Frequently asked questions.

  • Absolutely! If you’re still loving your current frame, we’d be happy to re-lens it. And the best part? In most cases, you won’t have to be without them. Since we edge lenses in-house, we can order them in advance and give you a call when they’re ready. Easy, right? We think so too!

  • Yes! We can apply your insurance to most of our services. If we're not in-network, we’ll gladly help you submit an out-of-network claim on your behalf.

  • Totally! If you had your exam elsewhere, no worries—we can still be friends. We're here to help you find the perfect pair of glasses (it’s kind of our thing!). We’ll even contact your doctor to get a copy of your prescription, so you don’t have to lift a finger.

  • Of course! Our skilled team is happy to help. Just stop by and let us make sure you're seeing the world the right way.

  • Absolutely! We actually specialize in high prescriptions. Come on by—we’d love to help you find the perfect fit.

  • Depending on your order, turnaround time can range from same-day glasses to about 3–7 days. We’ll always do our best to work a little magic and get you seeing your best as soon as possible!

  • Eyewear purchased at our location is covered (excluding parts required, if any), though we happily service frames purchased outside of Fritz & Hawley Guild Opticians. Also, if your frame happens to have a defect (rare, but possible) we will help facilitate your 1-year manufacturer’s warranty if provided by the brand.

  • If we received your previous script within the last 60 days, we will do a one-time remake of your lenses at no charge (excludes upgrades).

  • Hamden offers next-day and often same-day eye exams with our tele-optometry partners. Give us call and we’d be happy to schedule you.
